Art Alive has become a cherished highlight at Waterkloof House Preparatory School – a
special opportunity to ignite inspiration and celebrate the richness of visual art within our community. Through this exhibition, we hope to broaden artistic awareness and appreciation among our pupils, staff, parents, and the wider WHPS family, as well as Pretoria’s vibrant network of art partners. WHPS is delighted to invite both established and emerging artists to submit their work for our annual Art Alive Exhibition. Welcome to my world of wonder!
With brush, paint, and imagination, I embark on fantastical journeys, uncovering hidden treasures and secrets of the feminine soul.
My art is a delightful mixture of beautiful things — flowers that bloom in hidden places, animals that carry ancient wisdom, and women who hold the magic within.
In my mixed media portraits, I paint her with petals in her hair, moonlight in her eyes, and the wild heartbeat of nature in her veins. Each stroke is an invitation to join me on a beautiful adventure of self-discovery, exploring the twists and turns of her inner landscape.
I also bring that magic to little dreamers — I create whimsical murals for kids’ rooms that spark imagination and nurture their own creativity. Think moonlit forests, animals with kind eyes, and doors to secret worlds. Because childhood wonder shouldn’t fade.
In the face of life’s ups and downs, I find joy in the creative process — a magical realm where obstacles become opportunities and imagination knows no bounds.
My art is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience, hope, and triumph

A Creative & Personal Breakthrough
During a period of artistic uncertainty, I found myself questioning the direction of my work.
But then, like a seed pushing through soil, a pivotal moment bloomed.
I rediscovered a large canvas that had been sleeping in my studio, waiting to unfurl its petals. Inspiration struck, and I decided to explore new creative possibilities.
Without a predetermined plan, I began working on the canvas, allowing myself to freely experiment with color, texture, and technique — like petals unfolding in spring, wild and unscripted. This spontaneous process proved transformative, yielding a breakthrough piece that reinvigorated my artistic passion.
The experience taught me the value of embracing uncertainty and trusting the creative process, much like a flower trusts it will bloom in its own time. In that moment, I reclaimed my inner wild woman — the part of me that knows creativity is a dance, not a checklist.
This Expressive Rose painting, I call it “Roses so Free!” — a celebration of petals untied, boundaries broken, and the wild beauty of letting go. It’s a reminder that she is most powerful when she’s untapped.
It serves as a testament to the power of exploration and spontaneity in artistic growth.
